So, here is a little bit about me...

Hi, I'm Fay, I have been working with expectant and new parents since 2008 as a birth and postnatal Doula, and teaching group antenatal classes for the NCT since 2012. I'm also a trained and qualified Lamaze Childbirth Educator (LCCE)  and a fully trained and registered Hypnobirthing teacher with The Little Birth Company.

My journey began  when I completed my Doula training with Nurturing Birth, and undertook the recognition process with Doula UK and Nurturing Birth, to become a fully recognised birth and postnatal Doula with both organizations. After many years of experience I then also became a Birth and Postnatal Doula mentor with Doula UK, supporting new Doulas in their role.

To enhance my knowledge and skills, as well as supporting many women and their families I have attended many courses, workshops and study days since 2008, including some wonderful ones which have shaped my practice with evidence based knowledge. These have included: an Acupressure course for labour with the amazing Debra Betts, a Waterbirth course led by Dianne Garland, several training days with Dr Sarah Buckley and obstetrician Michel Odent, Rebozo training with Rocío Alarcón, Spinning Babies with Gail Tully and Survivors Giving Birth with Penny Simkin. For postnatal support I have attended Jack Newmans' and The Breastfeeding Networks study days, twins and multiple specific Doula training to support twin births and postnatal care and also have additional NCT training to provide antenatal courses to parents expecting multiples.

In 2020 I trained with the Mindful Breastfeeding School as a supporter and provider of antenatal breastfeeding preparation courses and can also provide 1-1 mindful breastfeeding support to new mums postnatally.

Specific to Birth education I am a fully qualified NCT excellent practitioner, Lamaze childbirth educator and Little Birth Company Hypnobirthing instructor. I have a wealth of experience supporting parents and I deeply recognise the rite of passage which bringing a new baby in to the family is and help support the new parents make the time of preparation as special as possible.

I have five children of my own, my first daughter born in 1990 and my last birth, my little boy born in 2009. I've personally had two hospital births, two birth centre births and one homebirth. I have Doula supported families with a wide range of birth experiences in different environments and I live in Rugby, Warwickshire.
